June – Remaining True to my Foundation in an Overwhelmed World
The Psalmist David writes in Psalms 61:1-2 “Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
As always there is tragedy throughout our world; whether it be a war in Europe, a school shooting in Texas or a loved one that never made it home. It seems that the tragedies, trials and heartaches are never ending. Satan uses these incidents to cause our faith to wane and to get us frustrated to the point of blaming God, denouncing the church and quitting!
Nobody suffered like David did and David was always true to his roots in his overwhelmed world. David penned these words and he reminds us that when we are overwhelmed to cry out to God and to search for Him with all of our heart.
Don’t allow tragedy to cause you to blame God. Don’t allow heartache to cause you to become bitter, but rather follow the example of David and cry out to the Lord the more. The Lord will bring you through and He will teach you to prevail when your heart is overwhelmed.
