March 2025 – Freely You Have Received…

Crystal Sturgill   -

Matthew 10:8 ..freely give. In this text the church is being instructed to pray, to heal and to cleanse, not of our own sufficiency but obviously of the sufficiency of God. That however, requires action on our behalf. It requires people willing to do, willing to go, and willing to give. The latter part of the text reminds us that we have received freely and we should freely give.

I’ve come to you today to remind you that somebody invested in your walk with God.

  • Somebody invested in your life.
  • Somebody picked you up.
  • Somebody dropped you off.
  • Somebody bought you groceries.
  • Somebody spent time counseling you.
  • Somebody spent time investing in you and talking you through some difficult times of your life.
  • Somebody spent time on the phone late at night when they should have been spending time with their family.

All of this is said not to make us feel guilty, but it is a reminder that we have received freely of others and we are to give freely to others.

Don’t forget where you came from. Don’t forget what others have done to have poured into you. It’s not for the church to be selfish and close the books once we have freely received. I am calling upon everybody to freely give, to pour into somebody else, spend time on the phone with them, pick them up, drop them off, buy them groceries, etc. We have received generously and it didn’t cost us anything. Let’s give generously and let’s not charge others anything!  Freely You Have Received, Freely give!
