April 2025 – People of Compassion

Crystal Sturgill   -

Matthew 9:36 “When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Jesus was always displaying an unprecedented level of compassion upon every situation that He confronted. Another such instance was when they were going to stone the adultress woman but rather than criticizing or condemning her, He pointed out their sin as a way of teaching them humility, and bringing them to a place of compassion.

If we are going to reach this generation, then the church must be filled with People of Compassion. Our world is at a tipping point and there are enough complaints and critics and unfortunately, complainers and critics aren’t solving the problem…they are just attacking the problem. The church, however, must operate with the same level of compassion that Jesus did because the church is the only entity capable of healing the broken hearted and mending the wounded through the blood of Jesus.

I am going to repetitively encourage you to be People of Compassion this year. Go out of your way to love somebody, and let them feel the love of God through your actions and through your compassion. If we truly want to grow the church, and we truly care about the lost, then we can’t be critics because of the lifestyle of the lost. We have to be compassionate beings, understanding that most people didn’t make their own bed; they were given their life. Please, let it be your mission this year to show compassion to those who need it the most, and above all else; reach one person every week through compassion.
